Recent rides of the NCN/TPT have revealed the following. Some of these have been residing as voice notes on my mobile phone for a while so I apologise if they have been dealt with, although the same problems seem to tend to recur in the same places :

Sheffield

Broken glass, debris Beaumont drive nr. allotment entrance

The ESSO garage on Prince of Wales Rd was seen to be selling petrol to under-age riders on illegal motorbikes.

Litter around Stone Lane access point and damage to the information sign.

Birley East colliery site - TPT signs are pointing the wrong way and there has been damage to the stone carving commemorating the colliery site. Surface washed out at beighton tip site and unrideable

Litter alongside the brook at beighton - between Sothall Green & High St.

Low overhanging trees on the section alongside the railway - beighton to rother valley.

Signs at the Forest Loop junction, Chapeltown Greenway, are pointing the wrong way. Crossing a live railway is not recommended! Maybe those two girls who were in the Star walking along the railway the other day were following TPT signs!

Fly-tipping in the green space alongside Ecclesfield Rd, mostly garden waste.

5ww between East Coast Rd & Meadowhall Retail Park in need of pruning.

Meadowhall Junction (Parsons X/Rotherham) sign is obscured by vegetation which needs cutting back.

Diversion signs at entrance to Chapeltown Greenway - generally good but if you

Ramp up to the road from the Chapeltown Greenway to Ecclesfield Rd is in very poor condition. In general I would say all the inclines on the trail have been worst affected by the storms and should be priority for re-surfacing.

My approach to Parsons X via Hartley Brook was enlivened by the sound of gunfire and off-road motorbikes revving up. My view is that a cycle route is to be maintained along here it should be on-road via Deerlands Avenue .

Excessive speeds on Carbrook St. (The response to this from the council was that they don't see a problem along here and the accident rate is low so eff off. The point that the NCN is supposed to be safe to the extent that a 12 year-old can use it unsupervised seems to have escaped their attention. )

Rotherham

Main st aston - sign turnoff to Ulley is obscured by vegetation

Broken glass on the off-road section on A618 nr. Ulley reservoir.

blockage sth of magistrates court rotherham casued by broken trees.

surface unrideable between Rotherham & Meadowhall - an opportunity to replace with harder surfaces, solve the drainage problems nr. Blackburn Meadows and remove unnecessary access barriers?

== Wakefield ==

Excessive Speeds on the road between the Barnsley Canal access point and Walton Colliery nature park.

Fly-tipping at gates of Walton meadows nature park.

section gouged out between Barnsley Stairfoot & Wombwell.

Barnsley

Condition of trail very poor on northern approaches to Barnsley, especially litter and broken glass under bridges. Leaving to south the surfaces are very poor.

Fly-tipping on Elsecar Greenway & Nr Butterthwaite Farm.

Doncaster

Tree across the trail south of Sprotborough.

This is a long list and doesn't of course mention the many miles of TPT that are open, clear for use and thoroughly enjoyable, despite this year's depredations.
