The thick blue line is the currently viable route, either off-road or on normally quiet roads. The dotted red line shows the currently proposed final route (subject to confirmation.)

Sheffield has an emerging Inner Ring Cycle Route that parallels the Inner Ring Road, linking to other real and planned cycle routes in and out of the city. It is unfinished and subject to change but a currently viable, if busy at times, route is as follows:

Clockwise:

Start at Broomspring Lane crossing (on Peak Park route) Cross to out-of-city side, turn left to use the off-road track to Moore St (with care as can be busy with peds and narrow) Enter subway and cross disgonally to city-side of St Mary's Gate. Cross Eyre St at the Toucan crossing (outside Staples) veer left and turn right into Sidney St, onto Brown St using contra-flow lane, then crossing to Paternoster Row.

Continue past the Showroom, through the temporary traffic lights and onto Pond St, (Here we are into unfinished territory) Flat St, Left at High St and right into Snig Hill (bus gate) West Bar, over roundabout to Gibralter St and into Shalesmoor. Turn left at Matthew St, l. Doncaster St, r Ellis St, l. Meadow St & Scotland St, r. Edward St, l. Kenyon St, r. Solly St (not quite as shown on the map - this was the easiest gradient we could find.)

Left Siddall St, left Broad Lane, v.busy (so use ped crossing on r. if you prefer) right lane and immediately r. into Mappin St. R. at Portobello, Straight on into Leavygreave, left into Victoria St, cross West St with care, continue down to r. Broomspring Lane, and you're back where you started.
